CHIP HARDY--MUSIC BIO

Chip Hardy has been a part of the Nashville music community and business for
over 40 years.  He started his career as a songwriter and had his songs recorded
by Dionne Warwick, Dean Martin, Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire,
Stella Parton and had 3 Top 10 Country singles by The Whites.

He was a staff writer for Tree International (Now Sony Music Publishing) and
Electra-Asylum Music Publishing Company.  Chip was then tapped by Jimmy
Bowen to be a part of the A&R Staff at MCA Records.  

During his 7 year stint at MCA he was a Production Assistant or Assistant Producer
on multiple projects by George Strait, Reba McEntire, The Oak Ridge Boys, Loretta
Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Mac Davis, Roger Miller, and Glen Campbell.  Chip also produced projects on Loretta Lynn, The Vega Bros. and Joe Barnhill.  Along with his production and A&R duties he was also responsible for the MCA Artist Development program and developed future recording artists Patty Loveless, Joe Barnhill, Karen Staley and Jess Leary.

Chip then went into publishing and worked for Bill Hamʼs (ZZ Top) company called
Hamstein Music.  Chip developed and worked with songwriters Tony Martin, Mark
Nesler, Monty Criswell, Lee Thomas Miller and Bobby Pinson.  He was in the
studio and recorded over 1,200 demos including the demos for “Just To See You
Smile” (Tim McGraw), “Iʼll Think Of A Reason Later” (Lee Ann Womack), “Ainʼt What
It Used To Be” (Billy Currington, Megan Mullins) and “Go On” & “Living And Living
Well” (George Strait).    

Chip then went on to run Marathon Key Music, a joint venture between Billy Joe
Walker, Jr. (Travis Tritt, Tracy Byrd) and Warner Chappell Music.  While there he
developed Jarrod Neimann as a writer and recording artist.

For the past 10 years Chip has been producing at THE 515 Recording Studio.  He has also done songwriter mentoring and has been a screener for TAXI--The Independent A&R Company.  He has been invited, for the past 8 years, to the TAXI annual Road Rally held in Los Angeles every November.
